Epic Fail!

I love baking. I make low fat banana bread and low fat cakes. I also make pizzelle's (full fat) around the holiday's but that's not baking, it's using a pizzelle grill. Pizzelle's are Italian waffle cookies and are so delicious! More to come on those.

But last night was an epic fail in the baking department. I don't think I've ever failed so disastrously when it came to baking or cooking anything!

I tried to make my boyfriend his favorite type of cookie, white chocolate macadamia nut cookies! Mistake #1: I never ever make cookies. Now I know why!

I pulled about 5 recipes off the Internet. One recipe had GREAT reviews. I tried it and it was a total disaster! The cookie didn't set up in the oven, it just spread all over the place and was a total mess! I followed the recipe to a T! I don't know what happened.

Realizing I had enough ingredients, I decided to try another recipe!
Mistake #2: Not realizing that I hate making cookies the first time and trying again!

The second recipe had the same ingredients but different measurements. The batter did seem better. This time, I only made a few cookies out of the batter so I can reserve what I'm not sure.

And the same thing happened! I really have no idea what I did wrong. I followed both recipes! Any ideas from any bakers?

I did decide then that I could try again with remaining batter but maybe on a lower temperature!
Mistake #3: Not realizing that it's the batter that's the problem, not the temperature!

Again, total disaster!

Sigh! I shall never bake another cookie as long as I live. So I'm going to Mrs. Fields and buying some of these cookies!

I did see a commercial this morning from the grocery store Dominick's and it said something to the effect of "The only ingredient you need for baking is Love!" Lol! I wanted to take my TV and throw it out the window! ass!! lol

  1. Oh, I'll have to DVR your dad's t.v. appearance! How cool!

    Did you use butter or margarine? I find when I use margarine my cookies are extremely flat - so butter is my go to when I bake.

  2. Ok here is something so so simple try a box of sugar free cake mix, 3/4 can pumpkin, mix bake at 350 for approx. 12 min. Easy to do and they are sugar free and have more fiber.

  3. Biz - I used butter. That's what the recipes called for. lol. I really don't know.

    Kathleen, I was trying to make his favorite cookie so that's why I didn't do a low fat recipe. I can bake low fat!! lol Funny!

  4. That is so funny that you posted this because about 2 weeks ago I had the same thing happen to me. I tried and tried but could not get my cookies to turn out. I cookied to batches as well and had to toss them both. I also said I would never make cookies again!

  5. The fact is that you tried. That's the point. So what if it didn't work. You know, there are a lot of things in life that we try and try many times before we get it absolutely right (um, weighloss for one).

    And pizzelles? Well, I'm loving making pizzelles, first time this year. I've wanted to...but didn't have the pizzelle iron. I bought one last week. It's an old one and I LOVE IT! I'm glad I didn't get a new one. Now I'm playing around with different recipes to see what I like.

    I'm going to try one this weekend that makes really thin and decicate cookies. This could be an "epic fail" as well, but I'll keep trying.
