Marathon Madness

I've been running since 2003. Mostly 5k's, 8k's and 10k's. There have been 3 half marathons as well. And can I tell you the half marathon's are hard! H-A-R-D! It does get easier the more you do though. I swore up and down (and again, up and down) that I would NEVER do a full marathon. I've got semi-bad knees (for a 31 year old) and kind of bad feet (which I inherited from my father...Thanks Dad!). I'm afraid of injuring myself. And, let's face it, I'm a little bit of a baby. I don't like pain!

This past year though, my thoughts have changed a little bit. I see other's doing marathons. My half marathon times have improved drastically. And I see these people on the Biggest Loser doing them when 5 months before, they could barely get out of a chair!

Did you guys watch the Biggest Loser last night? I was so inspired! Every time I see them run marathons, I get inspired. So much that it makes me want to cry! I would LOVE to feel the accomplishment of completing a full marathon. Side note: Can I say that I just love, love, love Daris!

So, I may have to contemplate running a full marathon next year. If I do sign up for it, I would really have to put a training schedule in place. Right now, I run haphazardly whenever I feel that I have time, maybe 1-2x a week or sometimes 1x every two weeks.

I'll think about it. I'm just a little bit afraid of the suffering I will endure! It's a big challenge. But I guess they always say "No pain, no gain!" Who says that anyway? I want to go beat him down!

  1. LOL! I'll join your gang to beat down the person who made that dumb saying up!!

I watched and felt inspired last night, too! But now, you scare me. As if I wasn't already scared. Some days I think about what I have done signing up for the half marathon in Nov. and I realize that someone needs to save me from myself. For I know not what I do....

  2. lol Marisa! I didn't mean to scare you! If it was really THAT bad, I wouldn't have done 3 so far! You can do it! Think of how great you will feel once you do!

  3. That is great that you have run half marathons before. I say go for it! That's easy for me to say though. I am almost done with the Couch to 5k plan and going to be running my first 5k in June!
